Cala Rossa: complete guide to this paradise beach
Just 900 metres from the studio (10 minutes on foot), Cala Rossa is your local beach. Here is everything you need to know to make the most of it.
Why "Cala Rossa"?
Its name, meaning "red cove" in Corsican, comes from the red porphyry rocks that frame this magnificent bay. These unique geological formations create a striking contrast with the turquoise blue of the sea and the white sand, offering a breathtaking natural spectacle — especially at sunset.
How to get there from the studio
On foot (recommended):
- Leave the residence and turn left at a junction. Continue straight ahead (the road appears to be a dead end): this is the shortest route to the beach. If you turn right, the path is only slightly longer and has pavements.
- At the end of the road, you will reach the entrance to the "Grand Hôtel Cala Rossa & Spa NUCCA". Do not go inside — take the small passage on your right through the stone wall. You are almost there!
- You have arrived at Cala Rossa beach, which stretches out to the left and to the right.
Another advantage of Cala Rossa: the beach has free parking — a rare perk on Porto-Vecchio beaches in season.
Practical tips
- Arrive before 10 am or after 5 pm in high season
- Bring water shoes to explore the rocks
- Westerly wind (Ponente) is ideal; avoid easterly wind (Levante)
- No-smoking zone on the main beach
- Dogs not allowed from 1 June to 30 September
Cala Rossa will be your everyday beach during your stay at Allogiu di a Cupulatta. Its proximity means you can enjoy it at different times of day, each offering a unique atmosphere. A true privilege that few rentals can offer!
